PRINTER-SAFE DESIGN

A letterhead has to work after it is
printed

Your letterhead goes back through an office printer every day, so the design has to leave room for the letter itself. Three things make it work.

Keep the centre clear
Room for letters, invoices and variable office content.
Respect printer margins
Keep important branding away from the sheet edge.
Use uncoated bond
Designed to feed through common office printers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, on uncoated bond. Keep your typed content inside the printer's own margin, usually 10 mm.

Yes, and it is worth doing. The same file and colour setup runs across all three, so the set matches.

Letterheads are printed in packs, starting from 250 sheets. Larger quantities cost less per sheet, so most companies order 500 or 1,000 at a time.

Single-sided is standard. Choose double-sided if you want company registration details, branch addresses or a pattern on the back. The back is printed before the letter goes through your office printer, so keep it light enough not to show through.
